Earthly empires are based on greed.
Les Feldick teaches that every one of the great Gentile empires is based on greed. He points to Alexander the Great and Rome as examples of nations driven by the desire to take what belonged to others. The biblical framework of Daniel 2 shows these kingdoms being consumed by Christ's eternal stone kingdom.
Daniel 2:44 — This verse directly answers the question by showing that God's eternal kingdom will break in pieces and consume all these earthly empires.
Daniel 2 reveals a succession of earthly empires through Nebuchadnezzar's dream. Babylon is called the head of gold, and God tells the king, "the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory" (Daniel 2:37). The next empire is described as inferior (Daniel 2:39). Daniel 2:44 promises that "in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed... it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever." In the New Testament, the devil takes Jesus to an exceeding high mountain and shows Him "all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them" (Matthew 4:8).

Alexander the Great grew up in Macedonia—the poorest part of Greece—where they did not have a thing, but he began to want more and prepared himself to become the conqueror of the world. The Romans looked at Greek architecture and philosophers and said, "Hey, I want that," and went after it.
Les describes the stone cut out without hands as Christ striking the last Revived Roman Empire at His coming. As the stone crushes the image from the feet of iron and clay up through the earlier empires, all vestiges of greed-driven Gentile kingdoms are consumed. He quotes Daniel 2:44: "this kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms," saying these kingdoms were "based on nothing but greed."
Les applies his conclusion directly to the present. He says the whole world sits out there with a greedy look, saying "I wish we could have what those Americans have got," and he expresses concern about disassembling the military because of that external threat. In the same teaching he exclaims that everything—the whole ball of wax in which we live today—is based on greed.
