According to Les, Israel's problem was unbelief. They followed after the law of righteousness but did not attain it because they sought it not by faith. They could not believe what God said, while Gentiles who heard Paul's preaching believed. Thus Israel missed the Messiah by ignoring the absolute of faith [Clip 2].
Les explains that the whole purpose of the cross required the shedding of blood. Had the Jews killed Jesus by stoning, their normal method of capital punishment, the requirement of shed blood would not have been fulfilled. The crucifixion made the shedding of blood evident and satisfied God's demand [Clip 7].
