According to 1 Corinthians 15, who brought death and who brought resurrection of the dead?
According to 1 Corinthians 15, death came by Adam, the first man who is of the earth, earthy. Resurrection of the dead came by Christ, the second man, the Lord from heaven, identified as the second Adam. The first man brought death; the second man brought resurrection.
Les explains that 1 Corinthians 15:47 identifies the first man as Adam, who is of the earth, earthy, and the second man as the Lord from heaven, Christ. Returning to verses 20 and 21, death came by Adam, while resurrection of the dead came by Christ, the second Adam. Les also emphasizes that resurrection is unique to Christianity; Elijah raising the widow's son and Jesus calling Lazarus from the grave were not resurrection, because they were merely brought back to life and later died again.
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
