Where do the lost stay during the thousand-year Kingdom rule?
The lost remain in their original state, which is hell, and they stay there throughout the entire thousand years of the Kingdom rule. They are not resurrected or changed until the thousand years are finished, while the saved are already in the Lord’s presence.
Les explains that verse 5 speaks of “the rest of the dead.” Since all believers, from Abel through the tribulation, are already resurrected and in the Lord’s presence, the rest of the dead must be the lost. The lost will not have anything happen to them until the thousand years are finished. They stay in their original state, which is hell as we understand it, and remain there all during the thousand years of the Kingdom rule. The last part of verse 5 refers back to the people in verse 4 and calls this the first resurrection.
But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
