Why did God leave the door of the ark open for seven days?
God left the ark's door open for seven days to give those outside an opportunity to enter, escape the flood and God's wrath, and enjoy salvation. Though the door stood open, the people remained absorbed in their world's activities; none accepted except Noah's family.
Les explains that in the days before the flood people were eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage until the day Noah entered the ark. The earth was corrupt and filled with violence, yet people were also busy with normal work, building, and marriage. The ark was finished, but God left the gangplank down and the door open for seven days, so those wrapped up in their world could have stepped in, escaped the flood and God's wrath, and enjoyed salvation. Les says none took it except Noah's family. He compares this to today, when the world is so busy despite talk of revivals and spiritual awakenings.
