Which empires follow Babylon in Nebuchadnezzar's dream vision?
Following Babylon in the dream vision are the Medes and Persians, then Greece under Alexander the Greek, and finally Rome, whose heavy boots trampled Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple in 70 A.D. These successive empires were depicted in Nebuchadnezzar's dream vision, with the final world empire represented by feet of clay and iron.
Les explains that after Babylon, the Medes and Persians ruled the world for a period of time. Then Alexander the Greek came out of Greece and covered the whole then-known world, including Israel and the Jews. The next great empire was Rome, and Rome's heavy boots trampled the streets of Jerusalem; Rome finally destroyed the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 A.D. Les points out that all of those empires were depicted in Nebuchadnezzar's dream vision. The stone cut out without hands smote the image upon its feet, which was the final world empire, the feet made of clay and iron, and broke it to pieces. Then the iron, clay, brass, silver, and gold were broken to pieces together and became like chaff.
