Are fundamental Bible churches losing the doctrine of separation?
Yes, the doctrine of separation is being lost even in some fundamental Bible-teaching and preaching churches. As a result, the world cannot tell a Christian and Christians cannot tell a Christian, because the concept of separation has been lost. Believers are to be different, in the world but not of it.
Les explains that the invitation in 2 Corinthians 6:17 is to come out from among an ungodly set of circumstances and be separated, and God says, I will receive you. This is not a condition on salvation but a call for believers under grace, where God never says you will or else; rather, He beseeches and leaves it up to us. Les warns that this whole matter of separation is being lost sight of even in some more fundamental Bible-teaching and preaching churches. Consequently, the world cannot tell a Christian when they see one, and Christians cannot tell a Christian when they see one. We are to be different, in the world but not of it, not with our nose in the air or no dealings with the world. Paul writes to the Gentile congregation of Corinth in 1 Corinthians 6:19.
