Why is the Eastern Gate of Jerusalem still shut?
Scripture records that when God mandated the Eastern Gate to be shut, it would never again be opened until Christ returns. Though emperors and kings repeatedly attempted to open it, they failed, dying or being defeated. The gate remains closed today because Scripture declared it would be.
Les explains that the Golden Gate, called the Eastern Gate, is seen in the center of Jerusalem's Eastern Wall, and it is shut. He notes Scripture said that when God mandated it to be shut, it would never again be opened until Christ returns. History shows many emperors and kings said they would go to Jerusalem and open that Eastern Gate, but they never succeeded; they either died of unknown causes before it happened or were defeated by military power. The Eastern Gate is closed to this very day because Scripture said it would be. Les then draws a parallel: just as Scripture's word about the gate has held, Babylon will never be rebuilt, and the Babylon of Revelation is the whole global system.
