Why does immorality get worse in a drug culture?

The Greek word translated sorceries is pharmakia, from which pharmacy comes, pointing to drugs. In a drug culture, people commit murder and constant theft to support their habit. Once involved in such a wicked culture, morality means nothing, so their immorality grows grosser by the day.

Les explains that the word "sorceries" in the verse comes from the Greek word pharmakia, which gives us the English word "pharmacy." Since the main role of a pharmacist is drugs, he reads the verse as speaking of a drug culture: "neither did they repent of their murders, nor of their drugs, nor of their immorality, nor of their thefts." Wherever drugs are present, as seen in the inner city, murder follows, along with constant thefts, because people rob and steal to support their habit. Then, as people get involved in that kind of wicked culture, morality means nothing, and their immorality gets grosser by the day.

Revelation 9:21

Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.
