What did the communists use to counter the drug culture before communism fell?

Les explains that he had read a year or two earlier that the communists, before communism fell apart, were actually using satanic worship and demonism to counter the drug culture. He calls this fighting fire with fire, because drugs and demon worship many times go hand in hand and can hardly be separated. Both, he says, model the mind. He ties this to the broader reality that the world is headed more and more into the drug culture, and as the tribulation comes to its end, the whole world will be saturated with that culture and all the evil attendant with it.
