Why did Joshua and Caleb think they could take the land?

Joshua and Caleb believed God, who had already done everything for Israel, would drive out the enemies. They trusted His promise rather than the majority's unbelief. Their confidence rested in God's past faithfulness and His power to give them the land, not in the majority's contrary report.

Les explains that Joshua and Caleb were heartbrokenly urging Israel, "Let's go! We can take the land," because God had done everything so far and would drive the enemies out. The ten spies, the majority, said they could not do it. Les points out that when it comes to the things of the Spirit, the majority is rarely right; the ten were dead wrong, but Caleb and Joshua were right. Their faith stood in contrast to the unbelieving hearts that kept Israel from entering God's rest.
