What role did God prepare Israel to fulfill?
God prepared Israel to serve as missionaries and evangelists, carrying the promise that through their covenant nation the Redeemer, the Messiah, would come. They were set aside to fulfill Genesis 3:15, bringing the seed of the woman to redeem mankind and extend that message to all nations, kindreds, peoples, and tongues.
Les explains that God set aside the nation of Israel to fulfill the promise of Genesis 3.15, that the seed of the woman would come to be the Redeemer of mankind. To bring that to fulfillment, God promised Abraham that through that nation of covenant people would come this Redeemer, the Messiah. Les illustrates redemption with a sports player who drops the ball but later makes a fantastic play and redeems himself. He then notes that God begins to prepare the nation of Israel for the role of being the missionaries, the evangelists, and that the 144,000 will not limit their ministry to the nation of Israel but will circumvent the globe to all nations, kindreds, people, and tongues.
