Les Feldick Bible Study

What does it mean that Christ's return is imminent?

Imminency means Christ could return at any moment, yet no one knows when. During the church age there is no time frame; He may come before the day ends or it may be years away. Scripture gives no ability to set a date, and date-setters are false teachers.

Les explains that once Israel lost her temple, national state, and sovereign government and was dispersed, God's time clock stopped and the church age—the age of grace—began, in which Christ is calling out the Body of Christ. In that age there is no time frame. No one knows when Christ will return; it is only imminent. He may come before the day is over, or it may be years down the road. Les therefore warns never to subscribe to anyone who says the Lord will return on a certain day. When someone sets a date, he says to cast him off as a false teacher, because nothing in Scripture gives the ability to set a date. The church age has continued these 1900 and some years, ever since 70 A.D., and began before that. With Israel in dispersion, the Gospel is presented based on Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, and Les holds that before God can begin the tribulation with Israel, the church must be removed.
