What is the future for believers according to Romans 8:18?
Paul writes that believers’ future is the glory that shall be revealed in or to them. The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with that glory. This future glory is connected with the manifestation of the sons or children of God, when they are brought into the spotlight.
In Romans 8:18, Paul says, “I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in or to us.” Les emphasizes, “That’s our future.” The context also speaks of the earnest expectation of the creation for the manifestation of the sons or children of God. Les explains that manifestation means being brought into the spotlight, using the illustration of a pond-water slide placed under a microscope when the powerful light is turned on. So the believer’s future hope is the revealed glory of God, far outweighing present sufferings, tied to the coming manifestation of God’s children.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
