How much time is skipped between Christ's birth and His kingdom rule in Revelation 12?

In Revelation 12, the time skipped between the birth of the Christ child and His kingdom rule is two thousand years or more. The text leaps the ages from His birth to His rule over all nations with a rod of iron, then backs up to the ascension.

Les explains that in Revelation 12 the woman symbolizes the nation of Israel, and the man-child is the Christ child. The passage leaps the ages from the time of His birth to the rule of His kingdom, a span of two thousand years or more. It then backs up to the ascension, where the child was caught up unto God and to His throne. In verse 6 it leaps back again to the midpoint of the tribulation, when the woman flees into the wilderness—the mountains Jesus spoke of—where God has prepared a place to feed her for 1260 days, or 3 1/2 years. Verse 13 then describes the dragon persecuting the woman, Israel.

Revelation 12:5

And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.
