Are the remnant Jews in the Tribulation the same as the 144,000?
The remnant Jews in the Tribulation are not the same as the 144,000. The 144,000 are young Jewish men, as Revelation describes, while this remnant is an admixture of a whole society, including people in varied life situations, such as those on housetops, fleeing Judea.
Les explains that there has been much talk about the remnant Jew in the Tribulation. Some think it is the 144,000, but he points out that of all the reading he has done concerning the remnant of Jews who will be saved during the Tribulation, nobody he feels explains this portion of Scripture. Looking at the passage, he says this is not 144,000 young Jewish men, which Revelation says they will be. Instead, this is an admixture of a whole society. He illustrates by noting Middle Eastern lifestyle: people who had retired and were living in a comfortable retirement situation had their patio on the rooftop, not out the back door. So the remnant described here includes a broad cross-section of society, not just the 144,000 young men.
