What did Nebuchadnezzar demand from the magicians regarding his dream?
Nebuchadnezzar commanded all the magicians to come and tell him not only the interpretation of his dream but also what the dream itself was. Because they could not recover or reveal the dream, he became furious and decreed that all the wise men of Babylon be destroyed.
Les explains that Nebuchadnezzar was all shook up because he had a tremendous dream, a nightmare of all nightmares, and he was belligerently and antagonistically against all his magicians trying to get them to recover the dream. He put out the command to all the magicians to come in and tell him not only the interpretation of the dream, but to tell him what the dream was. Les notes that these ancient Oriental kings were ruthless: if somebody could not fulfill what they asked, they would put him to death. The king was angry and very furious because the magicians could not recover his dream, and he commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. The decree went forth that the wise men should be slain, and they sought Daniel and his fellows. Then Daniel speaks up.
