What do critics claim about the authorship of the book of Daniel?

Critics claim the book of Daniel was written by an imposter long after the events it records had already occurred, rather than by Daniel, a young Jewish captive in Babylon, writing before those events took place. They ridicule the book and deny that its predictive content was written in advance.

Les explains that scoffers like to ridicule the book of Daniel and claim it was written by an imposter long after the events had happened, rather than by this young Jew writing before they happened. He recalls that years ago someone in his class asked if he was aware of that, and he said of course he is. The question then was whether he could give proof that they are wrong and that Scripture is right. He immediately thought of one verse and, while staying in Daniel, directs listeners back to Matthew 24. He has already noted that Daniel is writing shortly after Nebuchadnezzar besieged Jerusalem and took the Jews captive out of Jerusalem and Judea back to Babylon.
