What three books of prophecy were written by Jews outside the land of Israel?

The three prophetic books written by Jews outside the land of Israel are Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation. Daniel was written from Babylon during captivity under Nebuchadnezzar, Ezekiel from Persia at Shushan, and Revelation by John from the Isle of Patmos in the Aegean Sea.

Les teaches that Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation are the three prophetic books written by Jewish men from outside the land of Israel. Daniel wrote from Babylon while captive under Nebuchadnezzar; Ezekiel wrote from captivity in the next empire, from Persia at Shushan on the Tigris River; and John wrote Revelation from the Isle of Patmos in the Aegean Sea between Turkey and Greece. Les explains that all three are unique because they use symbolism, such as Ezekiel’s dry bones, sticks, and fiery wheels, Daniel’s great image with the head of gold, and Revelation’s symbolic language. Yet those symbolisms carry literal truth and are interpreted by Scripture itself.
