Why does the text in Daniel jump about 1,700 years between Rome and the ten horns?

The semicolon in Daniel marks a gap of about 1,700 years because the vision skips from the Roman Empire, which ended between 300 and 400 A.D., to the present-day European community as the revived Roman empire. The ten horns are kings that will be on the earth during the tribulation and serve as the Antichrist’s base of operation.

Les explains that the semicolon in Daniel's text acts as a time gap. Looking back on history, that semicolon jumped about 1,700 years of time, coming from the Roman empire, which ended between 300 and 400 A.D., up to the present time and the appearance of the European community as the revived Roman empire. The horns, again in Scripture, merely refer to kings. Revelation is then brought in because it deals with the kingdoms that will be on the earth at the time of the tribulation. Revelation chapter 13 shows these ten horns as the base of operation for this world ruler called the Antichrist.
