How did Israel travel from the wilderness to the Jordan River?

Israel traveled from the wilderness experience through Moab, arriving on the east side of the Jordan River. The river flows from the north, and since it was springtime, it was in flood stage and probably one to three miles wide.

Les explains that they are now in Joshua chapter 3, after having closed the previous program with Rahab and her faith, and her inclusion in the genealogy of Christ in Matthew chapter 1. He notes that Israel is coming in from the east side of the Jordan River. To clarify, he draws a makeshift map showing the Sea of Galilee, the Jordan River, and Jericho sitting right off the northern tip of the Dead Sea. Israel has come out of the wilderness experience through Moab, and there they are on the east side of Jordan. The river comes down from the north, and because it is springtime, the river is in flood stage, probably one, two, or three miles wide.
