Where is the city of Jericho located in relation to the Jordan River and Jerusalem?
Jericho is located just west of the Jordan River and down east from Jerusalem. The Jordan River flows from the Sea of Galilee down to the Dead Sea, which is in plain view of Jericho. Israel was encamped on the east side of the Jordan before entering the land.
Les teaches that just west of the Jordan River, down east from the city of Jerusalem, is the city of Jericho. He explains that when he first got to Israel he could not get over it, because he thought he knew Israel's geography but he did not. The setting is that Israel is on the east side of the Jordan River, which comes down from the Sea of Galilee and goes on into the Dead Sea, and the Dead Sea is in plain view of Jericho.
