Why did the Moabites have to put up with Israel until the Jordan crossing?
The Moabites had to put up with Israel because Israel remained intact, and the Moabites could do nothing about it. Despite thousands of Israelites losing their lives for losing their separated position, the nation was preserved until it crossed Jordan to occupy the promised land.
Les explains that although quite a few thousand Israelites lost their lives because they lost their separated position, the nation of Israel remained intact. The Moabites just couldn't do anything about it, so they would have to put up with Israel until the people finally crossed Jordan. Then Israel would go in shortly and occupy the promised land. This was not the easy entrance they could have had at Kadesh; because of unbelief, God turned them back into the wilderness for forty years of wandering.
