What warning about false teachers does 2 Peter chapter 2 give?

Second Peter chapter 2 warns that false teachers will appear in the last days, coming from every direction and confusing believers. They fellowship with church people while filled with false teaching. Described like Balaam, they receive the reward of unrighteousness, feast with you as spots and blemishes, and adulterate God's Word by mixing paganism with biblical truth.

Les explains that 2 Peter chapter 2, like the little book of Jude, deals with false teachers and warns that they are going to come on the scene in the last days. He says we are seeing them now, coming from every direction in every hue and color. The average believer and church member is totally confused, not knowing what is right or wrong, and cannot easily sift out all this rubbish. Les connects this to a national dilemma where people have lost all concept of the truth of God's Word. He then points to Balaam in 2 Peter chapter 2, where false teachers and their practices are described. In verse 13, these false teachers shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, counting it pleasure to riot in the daytime; they are spots and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you. Les notes they come right in and fellowship with church people, but they are filled with false teaching. In verse 14, they have eyes full of adultery. Les explains that adultery in Scripture does not always mean physical sexual adultery; it is many times ascribed to mixing paganism with true biblical truth, which adulterates the Word of God, and these people are masters at that.
