What did Balaam do after Balak's messengers came to him?
After Balak’s messengers came, Balaam went with them instead of refusing and telling them he could do nothing. He was enticed by the wealth of Moab offered for cursing the Israelites, so he sought to bring about what Balak wanted, even though Jehovah was blessing them.
Les explains that Balak offered Balaam almost anything he could take from the kingdom, but God immediately told Balaam not to do it. Balaam conversed with Jehovah and finally said he could not curse the Israelites because Jehovah was blessing them, which upset Balak. Instead of staying in Mesopotamia and simply telling Balak’s messengers there was nothing he could do, Balaam went with them. Les teaches that Balaam could not get out of his craw the wealth of Moab being offered for cursing the Israelites, so he was going to do everything he could to bring it about. The New Testament then gives a perfect description of the man in three separate categories.
