What did Aaron's serpent swallowing the magicians' serpents represent?

Aaron's serpent swallowing the magicians' serpents pictured God's final victory over Satan and death. The magicians' serpents represented Satan and his death, and their being swallowed foreshadowed death being swallowed up in victory, accomplished at the cross where Satan was defeated through Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.

Les teaches that Aaron's serpent swallowing the magicians' serpents was a picture of how God will finally control the situation. The magicians' serpents were representative of Satan and his death, and when Aaron's serpent swallowed them, it showed that death is swallowed up in victory. This connects to verse 54: when this corruptible puts on incorruption and this mortal puts on immortality, death is swallowed up in victory. The victory over death was accomplished at the cross, where Satan was defeated. Since Christ was put to death, buried three days and three nights, and rose from the dead, that is the power that separates us from sin, death, and Satan.
