Did John the Baptist ever question Jesus even though he was such a great prophet?
Yes. While imprisoned, John the Baptist heard of Christ's works and sent two disciples to ask, "Art thou he that should come? Or do we look for another?" Despite his miraculous birth and prophetic ministry, he questioned from a human standpoint because Jesus did not free him.
Les teaches that Matthew chapter 11 records John the Baptist, while in prison, hearing of the works of Christ and sending two of his disciples to ask Jesus, "Art thou he that should come? Or do we look for another?" Les explains that even a man like John the Baptist, who had fulfilled such a ministry, came to the place where he questioned. John's birth was miraculous, and his parents were past age, much like Isaac's. Yet he is in prison, and he knows Jesus has the power to take him right out of the hands of the authorities and set him free, but Jesus is not doing it. From the human standpoint, John begins to wonder.
