Who is the I AM in Exodus 3:15?

The I AM in Exodus 3:15 is God the Son, Jehovah, the I AM of the Old Testament. He is the one doing all the preparation work and who will be the pillar of fire and pillar of smoke. He is the one the tabernacle pictures.

Les explains that in Exodus 3:15 Moses now has it clearly put that the I AM is God the Son, Jehovah, the one doing all the preparation work. He is the one who will be the pillar of fire and the pillar of smoke. Les also connects this to the New Testament account where Jesus claimed to be the Jehovah, the I AM of the Old Testament, and they took up stones to kill him for blasphemy, but he hid himself and went out of the temple. Les further teaches that everything in the tabernacle is a picture of Christ—the Ark of the Covenant made of wood spoke of Christ's earthly side, and covered with gold spoke of His deity; and all the way through the tabernacle, the fence, blocks, hides, sacrifices, priesthood, and Day of Atonement speak of the finished work of Christ on the cross. So the I AM of Exodus 3:15 is God the Son, Jehovah, who is the fulfillment of all that the tabernacle pictured.

Exodus 3:15

And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
