Who gave the sermon recorded in Acts 7?
Stephen, one of the six deacons appointed in Acts chapter 6 and a man full of the Holy Spirit, gave the sermon recorded in Acts chapter 7. He addressed the nation of Israel, appealing to them to recognize that the one they killed was their Messiah.
Les explains that Acts chapter 7 is merely the sermon of Stephen, who was one of the six deacons appointed back in Acts chapter 6, a man full of the Holy Spirit. At this point, about seven years after Pentecost, Stephen begins this appeal to the nation of Israel, trying to convince them that the one they killed was their Messiah. He goes through the whole history of Israel, including the account of Joseph, whom the patriarchs moved with envy and sold into Egypt, but God was with him, delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, who made him governor over Egypt and all his house.
