Why does Christian growth take time?

The Christian life is a growth process, comparable to an infant entering the world who must be fed, nurtured, and loved while growing. Salvation brings a 180-degree turn and a changed lifestyle, but that transformation may not happen overnight; it unfolds gradually over time.

Les teaches that when a person is in their lost estate, they are sinners, nothing, rebels, and enemies, but once salvation has come in, there should be a 180-degree turn. The first thing he looks for when someone claims to have recently been saved is a change in lifestyle; it just has to happen. He has seen total change in many people over the years. However, it may not happen overnight; it may take time. The Christian life is a growth process, just like an infant coming into the world who has to be fed, nurtured, and loved as they grow. So it is in the Christian experience.
