What does Paul mean by the faithfulness of Christ in salvation?

Paul means salvation rests on Christ's own faithfulness, not on how much believers love Him. Christ claimed to have done everything necessary, and He remains faithful to keep us. Because He loved us and gave Himself for us, believers can trust Him to hold them.

Les teaches that the chair illustration shows what faith does: a person trusted the chair to hold him, and for that to work the chair had to be faithful. In the same way, Christ has claimed to have done everything necessary, and faith rests in that. Les says when we reach the eternal abode, God will not say it was not what it seemed; He will say the blood of Christ is faithful. Christ is faithful, and that is why we can trust Him. This is what Paul is driving at: it is through the faithfulness, his faith in the One who is faithful to keep us, and because He loved me and gave Himself for me. So the real issue is not how much we love Him, but how much He has loved us.
