Les Feldick Bible Study

Who are 'they that are Christ's at his coming,' and when will they rise?

They that are Christ's at his coming are church-age believers—those in Christ, part of the bride and body of Christ. They will rise in their own resurrection order, after Christ the firstfruits, as the next company to experience resurrection.

Les explains that the resurrection is not general, not everybody at once, but every person is resurrected in his own order or company. The Greek word for order implies a military organization. Christ is the firstfruits, one company. Then comes the great group called “they that are Christ's at his coming.” Les identifies these as church-age believers: those who are in Christ, who are part of the bride, who are part of the body of Christ. They will be the next ones to experience resurrection after Christ and the firstfruits. The context also notes that the unbeliever will be resurrected by the same power of God, but to a totally different end.

1 Corinthians 15:23

But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
