What is the first step in salvation?

The first step in salvation is recognizing that we need something. It is recognizing what God says about us—that we are sons of Adam, sinners, and a fallen race. This recognition of our fallen condition comes before the righteousness of God without the law.

Les explains that the very first part of the salvation experience is to recognize what God says about us: we are sons of Adam, sinners, and a fallen race. Only when a person admits that need can they then see the flip side—the righteousness of God without the law. Les says the law must be put aside, because this righteousness is manifested, meaning it is put in the spotlight like under a microscope. When we step into the truth of the Word, it exposes us and points to God's righteousness, which is witnessed by the law and the prophets.
