Can someone please people and still be a servant of Christ?

No. Paul writes that if he sought to please men, he would not be the servant of Christ. Scripture therefore teaches you cannot be both: pleasing men and serving Christ are incompatible. The servant of Christ must seek to persuade God rather than men.

Les explains from Galatians 1:10 that Paul is defending his apostleship and asks whether he persuades men or God, or seeks to please men. If he still pleased men, he would not be the servant of Christ. Les says plainly that you cannot be both a servant of Christ and please men. He adds that most believers find this out, and gives his cliché that when it comes to the things of the Spirit, the majority is always wrong. He illustrates this with Noah's ark, where only a small minority entered, and with Israel, where only a precious few were genuine believers. Elijah even thought he was the only one.

Galatians 1:10

For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.
