What sequence did the Old Testament prophetic program prescribe for Christ's coming, the Spirit, tribulation, and kingdom?
The prescribed order was Christ’s coming, His rejection, His ascension, the Holy Spirit’s descent, then seven years of tribulation, and finally Christ’s return to set up His kingdom. Scripture laid this out for a particular prescribed time, but historically it did not all unfold as written because the program halted after the Spirit came.
Les explains that the Old Testament prophetic program repeatedly laid out a prescribed sequence: at the appointed time Christ would come, be rejected, ascend, the Holy Spirit would come down, then the seven years of tribulation would follow, and Christ would return to set up His kingdom. Yet historically, after the Holy Spirit came down, the Old Testament program came to a halt and God’s time clock stopped. The tribulation and kingdom were therefore pushed out into the future and remain future. In that interim, by the working of the Holy Spirit, God has been calling out a people for His name.
