What did the Psalms and prophets say about Christ's suffering, resurrection, ascension, and kingdom?
The Psalms and prophets foretold that Christ must suffer, be buried, rise from the dead, and ascend, as in Psalm 110. They also foretold that after years of tribulation or retribution, He would return and set up His kingdom. These prophecies should have been known.
Les teaches that everything prophesied in the Psalms and the prophets concerning the Son of Man had to be accomplished. This included that Christ must suffer, be buried, rise from the dead, ascend—Psalm 110—and after the years of tribulation, or retribution, come back and set up His kingdom. Les also explains that Christ would be delivered to the Gentiles, that is Rome, mocked, spitefully entreated, spitted on, scourged, put to death, and rise again the third day. Yet the twelve understood none of these things; the saying was hid from them. Les connects this to the Hebrew term Jehovah Ulam, describing something hidden, and says God hid the church age from view, so they had no understanding that He was going to die or go to the cross.
The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
