God's sovereignty in choosing and human willingness in salvation are not an either/or matter, but must be held together. The Holy Spirit woos people and presents the plan of salvation, while individuals can be willing or unwilling, as the servant asked whether the woman would be willing.
Les explains that Genesis 24 is a picture or parallel of God calling out the body of Christ from among the Gentiles. God the Father has sent the Holy Spirit, who moves among the human race, wooing them and presenting the plan of salvation. Even though God is sovereign, the question arises: Is God absolute in who He chooses? Does everyone else not have a chance?
