How could Jesus be born sinless from a sinful woman?
God provided the Redeemer through the woman, even though Mary was a sinner in Adam’s line. The female is described as insulated from the curse that came through Adam, so the seed of the woman could be born sinless and not pick up the human element of the sin nature.
Les teaches that Mary was not sinless; she was just as much in the line of Adam as anybody else and stood under the anathema of sin. But God had a long-range purpose to provide a Redeemer, and that Redeemer had to come through the woman. Les points out that while we believe in the virgin birth, it is amazing that Christ could be born from a normal human female of Adam’s line and yet her offspring would be sinless, not picking up the human element of the sin nature. Les explains this by noting that the female is somehow insulated from the curse that came by way of Adam, so the seed of the woman—the ovum or egg—could bring forth a sinless offspring. He admits this is deep and often not considered, but God intends us to study and grow into the deep things, as Paul calls them.
