What kind of death did Jesus obediently die?

Jesus humbled Himself and became obedient unto death—not an ordinary death or a quick execution, but the death of the cross. Crucifixion was the most awful death ever contrived in the human race, beyond human comprehension.

Les explains that although Jesus was God—the omnipotent, omniscient Creator—He made Himself of no reputation, took upon Himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. He condescended to become a man, humbling Himself and becoming obedient not merely for a span of servitude but unto death. Les emphasizes it was not an ordinary death or a quick death by execution, but the most awful death ever contrived in the human race: the death of the cross. Crucifixion, he says, is just beyond us. This was for the sake of you and I.

Philippians 2:8

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
