What was the woman contemplating when she saw the tree was good for food and pleasant to the eye?

She was contemplating becoming like God. The tree appeared good for food and pleasant to the eye, and desirable to make one wise, but the real attraction was the possibility of being like God. Satan had made the forbidden thing look desirable, glamorizing what God had prohibited.

Les explains that when the woman saw the tree was good for food, pleasant to the eye, and desirable to make one wise, the deeper thing she was contemplating was to be like God. He connects this to Satan's strategy: Satan can glamorize the things of this world and make them look as though if you aren't doing that, you're not living, even though they only tear people down. Les says this is all part of the lie, and it began back in the garden. In the text she is still called 'the woman,' not Eve. Les also notes that in the original Hebrew manuscripts, after the word 'eat' there is a punctuation mark denoting a long pause. He has taught for about twenty years that when Eve partook of the forbidden tree, Adam was not right there with her; she must have been at least temporarily alone, and moments later Adam comes upon her.

Genesis 3:6

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
