What should we do with Bible verses that are hard to understand?

Believers should still accept and believe such verses, because Scripture does not lie. Even when passages are mind-boggling or hard to comprehend, the proper response is trust, not unbelief or rejection. We should admit that some things are difficult and beyond our full understanding, yet choose to believe what God has revealed.

Les teaches that some verses are mind-boggling, but the Scripture does not lie, so we have to believe it. He illustrates this with Titus 2:11, that the grace of God bringing salvation has appeared to all men, and with John 1:9, that He is the light that lights every man coming into the world. He admits he cannot explain how this works—'don't ask me how it is'—and says it is one of those things of Scripture that is hard to comprehend, and he is the first to admit it. Yet he insists that people are without excuse, that they could have known but did not choose to, and that God will be absolutely fair and just in judgment. The right response, then, is to trust and believe Scripture even when it is difficult.
