Why has the kingdom taken so long to come?
The kingdom has seemed long in coming because its time and season rest solely in the Father's own power, not human knowledge. Though over 1900 years have passed since Jesus spoke, in God's sight a thousand years is as a day, so the wait is brief. The kingdom is certain, only the timing is hidden.
Les explains that Jesus did not ridicule the disciples for asking about the kingdom. He told them it was not for them to know the time or season which the Father has put in His own power. The kingdom is not a matter of if but when. Although the world has already waited over 1900 years since Jesus said this, Les points out that in God's mind that is only a couple days, because a thousand years is but a day and a day is a thousand years in God's sight. The kingdom is coming, and that certainty should never be forgotten.
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
