Does Les Feldick want people to accept what he says as authority?
He does not want people to accept his teachings as authority. He tells his audience, including his classes, not to go by what he says but by what the Bible says. His role is to help people read and understand Scripture for themselves, not to depend on men's words.
Les teaches that his study is an informal, independent Bible study answerable only to the Lord. He admits he may not always teach things everyone agrees with, but his main goal is to encourage folks to come into the Word and see what the Bible says, rather than depend on what men say. He tells even his own class members, "don't go by what I say. We go by what the book says." He describes his role simply as helping people read, noting that many times he can read a verse without comment and people say they finally understand it—because people do not read.
