What is the mystery or secret of God and Christ according to Colossians?
According to Colossians, the mystery is the secret of God the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. This secret was kept hidden but is now revealed by God's grace through the Apostle Paul.
Les explains that this secret was kept hidden, but God by His grace has now seen fit to release these things kept secret and share them through the Apostle Paul. He points out that Jesus did not reveal the mysteries, and Peter did not have the mysteries. Paul, however, is not a step behind the chiefest apostles; he is not behind Peter in authority, but is up there a little bit ahead. Les emphasizes that we must acknowledge it was something kept secret, and that in Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge because He is God.
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
