What are we not redeemed with according to 1 Peter 1:18-19?

Scripture teaches we are not redeemed with corruptible things such as silver or gold, nor with the empty way of life inherited from forefathers. Instead, redemption comes through the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish and without spot.

Les explains that 1 Peter 1:18-19 aligns perfectly with Paul’s theology. Peter says believers were not redeemed with corruptible things such as silver and gold, nor with the vain conversation received by tradition from the fathers. Rather, they are redeemed with the precious blood of Christ, pictured as a lamb without blemish and without spot. Les ties this to the absolute truth that without the shedding of blood there is no remission, and later notes Revelation 5:9, where we are redeemed to God by His blood.
