What does Romans 3:24 mean by being justified freely by His grace through the redemption?

Sinners are justified freely by God's grace because redemption is the process of buying them back. The required price was the blood of Christ, which had to be divine; Joseph was not Jesus' father, God was, so His blood was unique.

Les teaches that Romans 3:23 first establishes that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, so no one is good enough to slip in. Then verse 24 adds that even though we are sinners, we are justified freely by His grace through the redemption—the whole process of buying us back. Les explains this was the purpose: God could pay the price of redemption, which had to be the blood of Christ. He notes that Christ's blood is unique because it was divine: Joseph was not the father of the baby Jesus, God was, and the blood circulatory system originates with the father, not the mother.
