Why are we accepted in God's eyes according to Ephesians 1?
Believers are accepted in God's eyes because they are in Christ, the Beloved. It is entirely by God's grace, not earned or merited. Their position in the Beloved means God cannot reject them without rejecting His Son. Redemption and acceptance come through His blood.
Les explains that we have not earned or merited acceptance, but it is all of grace that God has seen fit to do on our behalf. Ephesians 1 says He has made us accepted in the Beloved. That is how we are accepted in God's eyes: because of where we are in Christ. He cannot reject us, because then He would have to reject the Son Himself, and that He will never do. In view of our position, we are in the Beloved. In Christ we have redemption, and there is only one way to experience redemption, and that is through His blood. Les illustrates this with a friend whose denomination removed old hymns referring to the blood of Christ; he says they might as well throw away the New Testament, because our hope of eternity rests on that blood of Christ.
To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
