Why do 1 and 2 Thessalonians appear last in the New Testament if they were written first?

First and Second Thessalonians were probably written first, around A.D. 57 or 58, yet they stand last among the seven letters to the churches. The Holy Spirit, who prompted their early writing, saw fit to place them at the end in the New Testament order.

Les explains that 1 and 2 Thessalonians come at the very end of the seven letters to the churches, and they are the ones that are instruction. Even though they are at the end of the line of Revelation, these letters were written first, probably about A.D. 57 or 58. The Holy Spirit prompted the writer to write them early, but the Holy Spirit saw fit to put them at the end in our New Testament order. Les also stresses that understanding the historical setting helps explain why the Holy Spirit does what He does.
