What two spirits is the world up against?

The world is up against two spirits: the Holy Spirit and the evil spirit. Scripture warns believers to test the spirits, because many false prophets are in the world. Every spirit that does not confess Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God but is the spirit of Antichrist, already present.

Les teaches that the world is up against two spirits, just as it was when Paul wrote to the Galatians. First John chapter 4 is written to believers, telling them not to believe every spirit but to test the spirits whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. Every spirit that does not confess Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God; that is the spirit of Antichrist, already in the world. So the conflict is either of the Holy Spirit or of the evil spirit. Satan has his demons, and it originates in satanic powers. Les reminds people that Satan can promote more than skid row behavior; he will promote beautiful, cultural, and enlightening things as long as he keeps people from the truth.

1 John 4:1

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Where does the opposition the world faces originate?

The opposition the world faces originates in the satanic powers. Scripture identifies two spiritual sources at work: the Holy Spirit and the evil spirit, with Satan and his demons behind the latter. This evil spirit, including the spirit of Antichrist, is already in the world, and Satan uses whatever means he can to keep people from the truth.
