What does the world do when a group of people adheres to Scripture?

When a group adheres to Scripture, the unbelieving world reacts with loud opposition—screaming and hollering—and continually tries to put them down. This has always been the pattern, just as Ishmael persecuted Isaac, and it will not change. The world outnumbers believers by a tremendous amount.

Les explains that the unbelieving world outnumbers believers by a tremendous amount and is constantly trying to put them down. He says this has been especially evident in recent months: when a group adheres to Scripture, the world screams and hollers. That reaction is not new; it is the same hostility Ishmael showed toward Isaac. Les teaches that this pattern has always existed and will not change. The Scriptural conclusion is to cast out the bondwoman and her son, because the son of the bondwoman will not be an heir with the son of the free woman. Les identifies Hagar and Ishmael as a picture of legalism, which must be cast out once the Gospel of Grace is understood.
